Weight Gain is really a matter of Cravings… NOT hunger. I would bet dollars to donuts that the reason most people who struggle with their weight has little or nothing to do with hunger, and everything to do with cravings.
I was speaking with a client about this, and she agreed. As a historian, she points to the cultivation of grains as the beginning of food cravings and the slow decline of health of the human race. She is stating this with the knowledge she was acquired through decades of research. The Egyptians; some of the first peoples who cultivated grain, had dental cavities, excessive body fat, diabetes and early onset of death from heart disease. The Egyptians were among the first to ferment their grain into alcohol, beer and other distilled grains, which worsened their diabetic conditions. In the picture below, you see MRI imaging to explore atherosclerosis, which is medical jargon for “heart disease and clogged arteries”. Here is a video by Barbara Pogue that explains this condition.
For the record, the number one killer of Americans is heart disease presently, with cancer as a close second. Not so consequently, cancer is exacerbated with diets high in refined sugar, which comes from grains. The number one sugar consumed in this country is from High Fructose corn syrup, made from corn, right?
Now, what do we know about sugar. As excessive sugar is consumed, the pancreas slowly fatigues, and insulin production begins to decline. Secondly, with a more sedentary lifestyle, the receptors on the muscle cells that allow insulin to function also fatigue, meaning less sugar enters the cell. The cell sends messages to the brain to consume more sugar, and the cravings go into overdrive. At this time, the fat cells are more than happy to process this excess sugar, converting sugar to triglyceride and storing it as VLDL cholesterol. Excess sugar also increases C-Reactive Protein, which initiates the chronic inflammation conditions in the body. This inflammation greatly affects your arterial walls, narrowing the passage of blood flow to vital organs. So the clogging effect of VLDL cholesterol, along with the inflammation of the arterial walls creates the perfect environment for stroke and heart attack.
So, now for the solution. If you are taking medication for these conditions; hypertension, hyperglycemia, and hyperlipidemia (high blood cholesterol), we know this does not correct the condition, it simply eliminates the important signals your body is sending you to make a change. You can bang your head against the wall, but putting ice on your head does not work as well as, stopping the head banging activity!
That brings us to the answer. Stop cravings by balancing your blood sugar. Yes, decreasing the processed foods that are laden with sugar and fat and changing your diet to a more vegetable, protein based food plan will help, but if you want to give your self a little edge, I present to you ID Life Lean.
